Highlights from The 9th RHT CABA ASEAN Summit. The summit's central theme is "ASEAN 2030: TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE AND SECURE DIGITAL ECONOMY". Attended by leading business personalities, the series of panel discussions focused on the growing economy in ASEAN and the region.

#Throwback to the memorable 6th GAIL Sustainability Forum hosted at the Suntec City Convention Centre, where we welcomed an impressive gathering of over 150 delegates. GAIL, which stands for “Greening ASEAN: Initiatives & Leadership” aims to gather relevant expertise, knowledge and practical measures to enable ASEAN companies to respond to the region’s growing call for sustainable development. Guest-of-Honour Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies Heng Swee Keat delivered a keynote speech at the event and also launched the ethBe platform, a professional network powered by RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute anchored in its principles of Governance, Risk, AML, Compliance, Ethics and ESG. ethBe, derived from Be Ethical, aims to inspire positive culture of ethical leadership in business.

This panel discussion looks at how the shift to clean electric transport has accelerated net zero power generation and how Singapore is faring in its journey towards a net zero energy system.

In July this year, a Policy Paper on Voluntary Carbon Markets in ASEAN was prepared for the British High Commission (and Singapore Green Finance Centre) aimed at supporting policy development and the UK’s international COP26 objectives in Singapore and across Southeast Asia. The Paper focus on the following areas: 1) energy transition, 2) nature-based solutions, 3) green finance, and 4) adaptation and resilience. The papers provide a high-level understanding of the challenges and opportunities arising from climate science and policymaking in the ASEAN region, as we seek to transition to a greener economy. This session focuses on the discussion of the report’s third thematic area – the green finance by some of the principal co-authors and contributors of the COP26 report. It examines the rationale for carbon credits to be traded across ASEAN and assesses the role of institutional investors and regulators in developing a regional voluntary carbon market (VCM).

Professor Kishore Mahbubani, Distinguished Fellow, Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore, delivered his keynote address on "The Future of US-China Relations – Has China Won?" at the 7th edition of the RHT CABA ASEAN Summit on 17 September 2021.
